Centre for Asia-Pacific Studies, Tallinn University of Technology

In formal existence from 21 January 2014, the Centre for Asia-Pacific Studies (CAPS) is institutionalised under the ‘umbrella’ of Department of International Relations (Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia). The development of CAPS is linked to the strategic vision of the university on broadening the scope of interconnections between Estonia and Asia-Pacific. It is also considered an integral part of the already established framework run by the three largest universities of Estonia. The CAPS is striving to become an academic unit of national significance, delivering the message of necessity for the European continent to have a successful and mutually beneficial dialogue with the countries of the vast Asia-Pacific region. Whilst celebrating different approaches and employing comprehensive methodology, the CAPS is aiming to enhance academic research, people-to-people linkages, and business collaboration between Estonia and Asia-Pacific. Both Baltic and Nordic regional attractiveness deserves to be discovered and recognised by Estonia’s existing and prospective partners in the region that is considered by many as a rising geo-political and economic hub.
